Stainless Steel Barbecues and Grills

If you are in the market for a new barbecue or grill, it makes perfect sense to look at stainless steel. Ordinary steel doesn't stand much of a chance of surviving much more than a single season if it is kept in a damp garage or shed. This is particularly true of the very cheap imports from the Far East that are very often made of extremely poor quality powder coated steel. They look the part, straight out of the box, but don't last long at all.

When we think about stainless steel barbecues, grill or griddles, it is important to note that a 100% stainless steel unit is a very rare thing. Often, 'stainless steel' BBQ's will have plastic, possibly cast iron and maybe chromed steel parts. What we are looking for in our new barbecue is longevity, not something that will last forever. This can be achieved if the main body parts are stainless, we can look after the rest.

Here's a little trick for you if you want the best value out of a 'cheap' portable stainless steel barbecue. The very cheap stainless barbecues typically do come from the Far East, and typically those manufacturers will shave prices by reducing costs wherever they can. This can mean that 'pop' rivets are often aluminium, and nuts and screws are bright zinc plated rather than stainless. The saving is minute, but they do it anyway. The thing to do is to keep an eye on these fixings, and if you see any signs of corrosion ask your handy person friend to change the fixings for readily available (and inexpensive) stainless alternatives. You'll add years to the life of the BBQ.

All that said, let's have a look at what is available. As usual, be sure to check out the TWO ebay carousels below. The first carousel is for gas powered barbecues and the second carousel lower down the page is for charcoal. The ebay text links should be local to you whether you are in the UK, USA, Australia or Canada. These links should open your own local ebay on the correct BBQ page. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the savings you can make on identical brand new items.

First of all, a couple of Amazon links.
